Productive Learning in Spain

idapThe Institute of Productive Learning – IDAP is a municipal centre founded in 1994 for the implementation and promotion of Productive Learning in Vilafranca del Penedès and Catalonia. Vilafranca City Hall took part in the INEPS foundation in 1990 and since 1994 is represented through IDAP.

The IDAP’s activity started in the field of non-formal education becoming a different training resource of the municipality of fighting against the emergent unemployment on those moment, the scholar failure and, at the same time, trying to accomplish with the lifelong learning philosophy.

With the programmes Vilafranca City-as-School,  IDAP TV  and MAP Class has been attended a big diversity of student’s profile in vocational training and general education, students and adult people of different ages, academic levels and social and psychological backgrounds. For the development of these training programmes IDAP has the collaboration of near of one hundred of firms in more than 60 professional fields for the development of its Productive Learning programmes.

Since 2013 IDAP belongs to the Occupation and Training Service of the Municipality of Vilafranca del Penedès promoting Productive Learning in vocational training programmes.


VOCATIONAL EDUCATIONAL TRAINING

VILAFRANCA CITY- AS - SCHOOL (since 1994)

Addressed to unemployed people older than 16 years old, with certification in compulsory education or without it, but encouraged and interested in their personal and professional development. Its pedagogical aims are the acquirement of technical abilities, professional capacities and personal growth in the students, who learn through practical learning in different professional fields.

GENERAL EDUCATION

PRODUCTIVE LEARNING IN SECONDARY SCHOOLS - MAP CLASS

It’s an educational programme based on Vilafranca City-as-School model.

The MAP CLASS is addressed to students of the last two grades of secondary level of compulsory education (15-16 years old) who have failed before in the process of scholar adaptation and academic success. 

The learning activity is based in individual training plans which combine the basic curriculum and the acquirement of professional knowledge through practical experiences in firms. Other pedagogical elements are the individual consultation and support in each stage of the educational process.

Up to now IDAP has developed these PL modules in all public secondary schools and in a semi-private school of the of Vilafranca del Penedès. Nowadays we have the following MAP Class:

  • MAP CLASS MILÀ I FONTANALS (since 2002)

 

  • MAP CLASS EUGENI D’ORS (since 2006)

In Catalonia MAP model is considered one of the best models of organization, functioning and methodological approach in the assistance to disadvantaged students, a model which is being inspiration to other experiences in all Catalonia.
